Event Reminders:

Community Gardening Work Day
Foothills Transition is taking part in the Transition Home and Garden Challenge by joining the community gardening work day this Wednesday May 9th at 4:30 pm in the Catawba HOPE Community Garden next to the Hickory YMCA parking lot. This is a wonderful project and we hope to see you all there; please bring gardening gloves

Energy Group Meeting

Don’t forget about the Energy Group Meeting Friday May 11th at the Riverbend Clubhouse, 7pm. We’ve got two exciting projects on the agenda for discussion: Workshop series for improving energy efficiency and resilience; Community-owned energy.  Light refreshments provided.  Many thanks to Libby and Jeff for arranging the venue.

Information Booth request
The Foothills Transition Booth needs attention!  Our cardboard display panel is rather flimsy and blows over easily, and our stuck on paper information sheets are curling in the humidity!  If you have a spare rigid display board or a higher quality color printing and laminating capability you could donate to Foothills Transition, we would really appreciate it!

Fracking News - follow up from the movie, Gasland
Today I received an e-mail from Lee Brinson, the chap who is putting on the energy films with FootCandle, informing me that the NC State House has decided to delay lifting the ban on Fracking in NC. No reason given for this, though I find it interesting it was done just before voting day.

Cheers
